Dear Customer:

Your safety, confidence and satisfaction is extremely important to Town Fair Tire.

Dill Air Controls issued an investigation on select tire valve stems and it has been determined that in some cases these valve stems are cracking prematurely.

As a precaution, if you had tires replaced or had a flat fixed at Town Fair Tire between November of 2006 and July of 2007, we would like to invite you to visit one of our locations to have your valve stems checked and replaced if necessary free of charge.

What is a valve stem?

Valve stems are rubber ports used to inflate your tires and maintain the proper tire pressure. Commonly located near the tire rim, valve stems are usually replaced when tires are replaced or serviced.

How does a cracked valve stem affect my safety?

A cracked valve stem does not allow your tire(s) to retain proper pressure and inflation. As your tire(s) lose air, they can become damaged, possibly leading to a blow out, also known as tire failure. If this occurs while driving, even the most experienced driver can lose control of their vehicle.

Can I tell if my valve stem is defective?

Below is an illustration of a cracked valve stem and one that is not cracked.

Also, a possible symptom of a cracked valve stem is if your tire(s) is regularly losing air and air pressure. Make sure to check your tire pressure at least monthly and have your tires rotated and balanced regularly.

How do I determine if my valve stem(s) are defective and if they need replacing?

Simply visit your nearest Town Fair Tire location and request a free valve stem inspection. If you purchased your tires or had a flat fixed between November 2006 and July 2007 from Town Fair Tire and your valve stems are cracked, we will replace them free of charge.

You do not need to bring a copy of your Town Fair Tire invoice. We can verify your purchase from our records. If you have any additional questions please call our customer service line at 800-972-2245.
